Pattern: "Square 8" from 101 Crochet Squares by Jean Leinhauser.
The middle of this square is a solid piece made of single crochet. With no holes in the corners, you have to be really careful to put your stitches in the right place. When the pattern got to the wavy part just before the white round I was worried it would come out weird. Sometimes it is hard to believe that a crochet block in progress will actually become a square! Or at least not a flat square!

The white round is made with front post double crochet (FPdc) which is really easy to do. The "shells" are worked around a specified post of a double crochet stitch from two rounds back. Here's what it looked like in progress!
