spring cleaning

paper stuff

Don't you love it when you can actually shut the lid? This plastic box is really for sewing supplies (hence the thread spool sections on either side), but it holds my paper crafting tools just fine.

found cross stitch sampler

I found this cross-stitched sampler at a second-hand store. I'm going to make something out of it; I just haven't decided what yet. Maybe a little zipper pouch or two. The background fabric is my favorite linen tablecloth.

new fabric purchases

jay mccarroll woodland wonderland fabric

I have been coveting this Jay McCarroll Woodland Wonderland fabric for some time now, and through the magic of online shopping, it is now mine. I checked the big local quilt store that carries lots of Free Spirit fabric, but they don't have this. Maybe the deer are too creepy for them. I found it and the Heather Ross Mendocino fabric below at fabricworm's etsy shop. I'm itching to make something with it, but I can't bring myself not to prewash new fabric before using it. The last two sets of pictures are some awesome Japanese fabric from JamsaBon's etsy shop. So cute. I got a free swatch and a couple of sheets of note-paper with my order. :) Both merchants were pleasant to deal with and had fast shipping (ordered on Thursday night, received on Tuesday, and I'm pretty certain that my neighborhood didn't get mail delivery on Monday for some reason).

the most awesome feedback ever

felted bowl

I made my first sale ever on my etsy shop a couple of weeks ago. I dolled up my package and included a few fun extras, nervously wondering if the purchaser would like it or not. Like probably everyone else, I have moments of panic and doubt about the stuff I make. I anxiously checked every day for feedback about the transaction though none ever showed up on my account. Then Friday, in the mail I got a wonderful thank you card and the pretty pink felted bowl from my buyer. Now I can never doubt that she loved her purchase because she took time out of her day to thank me and made me something in return. So awesome.

Holly, if you ever read this, I just want you to know that you have made my day. More like my year! I love your fuzzy bowl, and I'm thinking of new ways of using it every day. I think I may have found a new pen pal. :)

mod podge love

Did you know Plaid makes Mod Podge for fabric? I have to try it. I can't find any information about the real life washability of items made with this stuff, but supposedly it can be used on garmets and works especially well with thicker fabrics. We'll see! I have found several projects that use this, but I couldn't find any reviews that answer my burning questions. Have you used it?

vintage buttons candy mold

I badly want this vintage buttons candy mold from Bake It Pretty. Their blog has a step by step tutorial on how to make these. I love the colors they used! This reminds me of the candy I used to get in Easter baskets as a child. Mom always made our chocolates. Yum! I also like the birds and cherry blossoms, button suckers, an acorn-shaped box, and the danish lollipops.

They have tons of cupcake liners, including the dark brown ones that are all the rage. My favorite are these fluted flower ones.

Oooh...The Crafty Crow is having a giveaway for a $50 gift certificate to Bake It Pretty! Hurry, entries must be made by February 7th!!! Check it out here!

hambly screen prints

I saw these awesome pillows at CraftStylish today. Check out Hambly Screen Prints for the rub-ons that were used to make them. I like almost all, but my favorites are below. The store also sells paper, stickers, and other craft supplies, but none call to me like these do. You can use them on fabric with a sealer. Neat! Who doesn't like birds and robots and mod foliage?
