Pattern: "Centered Square" from 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton.

Busy day! This simple square was all I could muster. If you can make a regular old granny square, you can definitely figure this one out.

It snowed all day again today, and there's more to come. We finally got out of the house for something other than work though. Dinner with friends was awesome after a week of being stuck in the house!

I made a Ravelry page for my flowery square (8::365) pattern. If you crochet yourself one, I'd love to see it! Meanwhile, my tiny new pattern will have to wait for Saturday.

Pattern: "Rose Trellis" from Caron.

This is a pretty flower square, but the pattern isn't the most clear one I've ever used. If I were a total beginner, I know I wouldn't understand parts of it. I always find it helpful to look up the pattern on Ravelry. Other people's project photos and notes can sometimes help out in times like these when the instructions are ambiguous. What I like about crochet is that it is easy to tell where the stitches are actually supposed to go just by looking at a photo!

Snow did arrive, and once again, we're stuck at home. We were prepared for the possibility, so it has been kind of nice. I took this photo first thing this morning--out the window! I haven't actually stepped foot outside since yesterday. It is so cold!

it's gonna snow!

(frame from Kitschy Digitals)

It is so hard to believe that this weekend, the temperature was in the mid-70s, but tomorrow will have a high of only 16 degrees. By this time tomorrow, we're supposed to have about a foot of snow. I'm totally looking forward to the snow part of it! This photo is from Christmas 2009, when Oklahoma City was all but shut down because of the weather. It was crazy to walk down Western Avenue near Crown Heights and see a street filled with pedestrians making their way to 7-Eleven for coffee and provisions. I don't remember how much snow we actually got that time, but the snowdrifts in some places that were 5 to 6 feet high!

We've done the grocery shopping (unlike last time!) and I've got tons of projects I'd love to have more time to work on, so being stuck inside wouldn't be the worst thing in the world! I would rather be able to get my car out of the driveway this time, though. At least I know that I live on a street full of kind people who are more than willing to lend a hand to a neighbor in need!

Pattern: "Big Round" from 200 Crochet Blocks by Jan Eaton

Sometimes I think I secretly like the wrong side of crochet better than the right side. What do you think? The "right" side is first picture below; the "wrong" is second.

We went to Taqueria La Original again today. This time I got a picture of the awesome cactus-shaped vending machine. Come to think of it, they have a LOT of vending machines. And their gorditas are the best ever!

first snow

I'm okay with the fact that the snow isn't sticking to the roads. It looks so pretty on the trees!

humble pie

humble pie

When we heard last year that there was a new pizza joint around town that offered Chicago style deep dish pizza, we immediately visited Humble Pie in Edmond, Oklahoma, and it has become one of our favorite places. They had a kitchen fire a little while back and had to close down for repairs, but they're open again, and the pizza is still amazing. To be honest, I am so in love with the Chicago style that I haven't even tried their New York style option. It is probably good, but I don't want to miss out on the tender and flaky goodness that is their Chicago style crust. You have to try this place.

The "bottomless pretzel basket" is humble pie's only appetizer. I love the way they season the pretzels.

We got the meat lovers and the 7 cheese pies this time. While both were good, the cheese one was to die for.

so happy spring is here!

snow in march

This was the view out my front door on Saturday morning. It has all melted by now, and the high today was 72! I can't believe it!
