Pattern: "Eye of the Beholder" by Jessica Gil.
I used my J hook again for this square yesterday, and now that I'm looking at the block as a whole, I think I may have subconsciously taken the "eye" thing a little literally. It sort of looks like a zombie eye. I still think it is pretty!
The beginning of a couple of rounds of this pattern said to ch 2 and then dc in the same space. I just chained 3 and let that be the substitute for the first dc. I left off a round or two and added a second round of alternating dc, ch 1.
